Executive and business coaching
"The word coaching literally means to transport someone from one place to another...to help them move forward or create change" (Starr, 2003)
In the same way that an athlete is coached to get to the top of their game, business or executive coaching is used to help people in organisations to do the same in their world, whatever that might mean to each individual. Coaches recognise that we are all different, we all have different ways of defining success and therefore, within a coaching situation the relationship between coach and coachee is very important. It is a relationship of equals, within which the coach helps the coachee to learn, develop and manage change. The coach guides the coachee as they use their own resources to define possibilities and goals and then helps them to find practical ways forward to attain preferred outcomes. Within this relationship confidentiality is assured at all times.
